Felix Gender Equality Plan

Introduction

Felix is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where all employees have equal opportunities to succeed. This Gender Equality Plan (GEP) aligns with the European Institute for Gender Equality's (EIGE) GEAR (Gender Equality in Academia and Research) toolkit, providing a structured approach to integrating gender equality into our organisational practices.

1. Commitment to Gender Equality

  • Policy Framework: Felix will develop and implement a comprehensive gender equality policy, endorsed by senior management, to demonstrate our commitment to gender equality across all organisational levels.

  • Gender Equality Committee: Establish a dedicated committee responsible for overseeing the implementation of the GEP, monitoring progress, and reporting to the board.

2. Work-Life Balance and Organisational Culture

  • Flexible Working Arrangements: Introduce and promote flexible working hours, remote work options, and part-time positions to accommodate diverse personal responsibilities.

  • Parental Leave: Offer equitable parental leave policies for all employees, regardless of gender, ensuring job security and financial support during leave periods.

  • Organisational Culture: Cultivate a culture that values diversity and inclusion through regular training, awareness campaigns, and the celebration of diverse cultural events.

3. Gender Balance in Leadership and Decision-Making

  • Leadership Development: Implement mentorship and training programmes aimed at preparing underrepresented genders for leadership roles.

  • Transparent Promotion Processes: Ensure that promotion criteria are clear, objective, and accessible to all employees, with regular reviews to prevent unconscious bias.

4. Gender Equality in Recruitment and Career Progression

  • Inclusive Job Descriptions: Craft job advertisements using gender-neutral language and highlight Felix's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

  • Bias-Free Recruitment: Train hiring managers on unconscious bias and standardise interview processes to ensure fair evaluation of all candidates.

  • Career Development: Provide equal access to professional development opportunities, including training, workshops, and conferences, to all employees.

5. Integration of the Gender Dimension into Research and Teaching Content

  • Gender-Responsive Content: Ensure that all research and teaching materials reflect diverse perspectives and are free from gender stereotypes.

  • Curriculum Review: Regularly assess and update curricula to incorporate gender studies and promote critical thinking on gender issues.

6. Measures Against Gender-Based Violence, Including Sexual Harassment

  • Zero Tolerance Policy: Implement a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of gender-based violence and sexual harassment, with clear reporting mechanisms.

  • Support Systems: Provide confidential support services for victims, including counselling and legal assistance.

7. Data Collection and Monitoring

  • Gender Audits: Conduct regular gender audits to assess the current state of gender equality within the organisation.

  • Monitoring and Reporting: Establish a system for monitoring the implementation of the GEP, with annual reports detailing progress and areas for improvement.

8. Training and Awareness-Raising

  • Mandatory Training: Offer regular training on gender equality, unconscious bias, and diversity for all employees.

  • Awareness Campaigns: Organise campaigns to raise awareness about gender issues and promote an inclusive workplace culture.

9. Implementation and Evaluation

  • Action Plan: Develop a detailed action plan with specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) objectives for each area of the GEP.

  • Evaluation: Conduct annual evaluations of the GEP to assess effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.

Felix aims to create a workplace where gender equality is integral to our operations, culture, and values. This plan serves as a roadmap for embedding gender equality into all aspects of our organisation, ensuring a fair and supportive environment for all employees.
